"Your son/daughter will receive her Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh
medal from the Duke of Bragança in a formal ceremony at the school. OIS would
be delighted for you to be present .
For the ceremony, the participant must wear his/her official school
uniform (blazer included).

Obviamente que não percebi nada e a Sofia nada tinha partilhado comigo; mais tarde vim a saber qye a medalha se deve a uma "Adventurous Journey" na Serra da Arrábida; fui pesquisar melhor e encontrei esta explicação:
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a program of activities for students to do complete in their spare time. There are three Awards: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Gold takes the longest to do and is the hardest one - usually, people start off on the Bronze Award. There is also the Bridge Award
for young people aged 12 and 13. This Award provides an introduction to
the Bronze Award. It provides an opportunity to familiarise themselves
with the sections of the Award program, practice at setting and
achieving goals and the chance to feel success in a shorter period of
time.
Students simply have to choose one activity under each of the following headings and do it for a set length of time:
Volunteering: Be a local hero - help the community, the environment or even train to save a life...Skills: Do something different, whether it be a fine artist or a trapeze artist, there is something that will suit everyone.Fitness/Physical Recreation: Virtually any sport, dance or fitness activity can count towards an Award.Adventurous Journey: Train, plan and complete an adventurous journey in the countryside on foot, horseback, boat, cycle or any other adverturous activity.Residential Project : As a team, students work on a conservation, service or activity-based project (this is for Gold Award Participants only).
Students also need to complete a diary to log their Duke of Edinburgh journey at each level.
